The Art of Paper Making at the Museum Store

A collaboration with Supermama // An exhibition of The Art of Papermaking at The National Museum Store. This exhibition challenge the idea of how paper waste can be transformed into handcrafted paper and essential stationery products.

At Print N Matters, other than using off-cuts to offer innovative stationery products, we also endeavour to give these off-cuts a new lease of life by conducting workshops to share with others how we can transform such paper waste into handcrafted paper.

While exploring the art of paper-making, we found that there were many types of materials that could work as alternative ‘fibres’ to wood-pulp paper.

Taking a creative approach, we decided to experiment with different materials, from shredded paper and offcuts from printer waste, to agricultural residue (such as sugar cane, corn husk and vegetable cellulose), and to end-of-life materials such as dryer lint and coffee husk. Dried leaves and flower petals were also used to explore possible organic materials that could add texture to the handcrafted paper.
